It was my first time printing books with Imprint, and I had a really good experience. The books came out just as I expected, and they were packed really carefully for delivery. Happy with the service and the quality!
Magazine printing for independent titles, single issues and collected volumes, bound in our own Exeter bindery.
Whether you are launching an independent magazine, printing a single issue or collecting a year's run into one volume, a perfect bound magazine with a printable spine lines up on a shelf and can be found again. Choose full colour on gloss, silk or uncoated stock, A5, A4 or a custom trim, and laminate the cover in gloss or matt with spot UV where an issue deserves it. Thinner issues can be saddle-stitched. From 10 copies, with a free digital proof on every order.
A4 leads, with A5, every standard trim and any size to the millimetre. Portrait, landscape or square.
Perfect bound with a printable spine as standard; saddle-stitched under 48 pages. A laminated cover in gloss or matt, with spot UV or foil.
Uncoated book papers for text, coated for photographs and illustration, all from the calculator range up to 170gsm. The preview page shows the stock in its own shade.
Black and white, colour or a mix of the two. The slider follows the binding's page rules, so every count it offers is one we can bind.

Every run size from 10 copies (25 for hardbacks) is priced live, with a free digital proof on every order.
For hardback orders, the printed proof is a plain-cover paperback with a separate sample of your cover. About proofs.
Under 48 pages? Saddle-stitching may suit it better, ask us to quote it alongside.

Brilliant company, which I highly recommend for any printing task, large or small.
I would give 10 stars if I could. This was my first foray into preparing a book myself for self publishing. In the past we have paid a designer a vast amount which wasn’t a cost effective option for this project. Riley at Imprint was endlessly helpful and patient and we have ended up with a very professional product at an incredibly reasonable price. What is even more outstanding is that I approved the final PDF on Wednesday and received the books on Friday!
I'm delighted with the whole printing experience with ImprintDigital. In a book with many colour photos and detailed technical illustrations, the printing quality is absolutely superb, with bright, true colours, sharp details and a high-quality glossy texture. The ordering process was simple and email responses were fast, friendly and professional..A delivery issue caused by another company was handled swiftly and elegantly. I highly recommend ImprintDigital.

Magazine pricing depends on size, page count, colour, paper and quantity. Binding matters too: a short saddle-stitched issue and a thicker perfect-bound magazine have different production costs. Use the calculator above for your exact specification, or compare UK book printing prices.
10 copies: genuinely useful for pilot issues, media kits and advertiser samples before committing to a full run. Most indie titles we print run 100 to 500 copies per issue; catalogues typically 250 to 1,000. Unit cost falls sharply between 50 and 250 copies.
Under 64 pages, saddle-stitch is cheaper and lies flatter. From 64 pages, perfect binding gives you a flat printable spine, which matters on a shelf, in subscriber photos and for perceived value at a £10+ cover price. Heavy gloss stocks above 130gsm bind better with PUR. If you're between formats, we'll price both from the same file.
The newsstand standard is 115 to 130gsm gloss or silk inside with a laminated cover board chosen from the calculator. Design-led indie titles increasingly run uncoated 100 to 120gsm for a more editorial feel, it costs a little more per copy and photographs slightly softer, which is often exactly the point. Catalogues with product photography should stay on silk or gloss for colour accuracy.
Yes, catalogues, lookbooks and exhibition catalogues run through exactly the same production as magazines: same stocks, same binding choices, same colour management. For product work we recommend a silk stock and a printed proof to assess colour-critical pages. Barcodes, price-list inserts and versioned covers (e.g. trade vs retail pricing) are all straightforward.
Three decisions before design: trim size (A4 is the newsstand default; B5/Royal reads more indie), page count (multiples of 4; 64+ pages earns a printable spine), and paper (gloss for saturated photography, uncoated for the editorial feel). Design in any layout tool that exports a print-ready PDF, set 3mm bleed from day one. Then price a pilot run; from 10 copies you can hold issue #1 before committing to a full print run.
Yes, repeat titles are the easiest work we do. Your spec is on file, colour profiles are consistent press to press, and reprints or next issues price identically. Send the new PDF, approve the proof, and the schedule holds. We print monthlies, quarterlies and annuals on this basis.
Matte, gloss and soft-touch lamination are standard. Spot UV over matte lamination is the most popular premium cover move for indie magazines; foil blocking and French flaps are available on perfect-bound issues. All applied in-house in Exeter.
Standard production takes 5 to 7 working days for paperbacks and 3 to 4 weeks for hardbacks, from proof approval. Delivery is additional. If you have a deadline, tell us before ordering so we can confirm what is achievable.
