Who it is for

What people print

Art & photo zines

Illustration collections, photo essays, sketchbook editions. Full colour on silk stocks, or deliberate mono on uncoated for the classic zine feel.

Poetry & writing

Poetry pamphlets, short-story collections, perzines. Cream uncoated stocks, restrained mono interiors, covers that punch above the page count.

Fanzines & collectives

Music zines, football zines, community and campaign publications. Cheap enough to sell at cover prices that make sense, sturdy enough to survive the gig.

Fairs & small press

Runs timed for zine fairs and art-book fairs. Short reprints when a table sells out — 25 more copies is a normal order, not an inconvenience.

Questions

Zine printing FAQ

I’ve never made a zine — where do I start?

With one sheet of paper — genuinely. Our guide to how to make a zine covers the whole road: the classic 8-page one-sheet fold, choosing a format, laying out pages, assembling, and selling at fairs. Come back here when your zine wants a proper print run.

What’s the smallest zine run you’ll print?

10 copies. Most zine runs we print are 25–100 copies for fairs and online shops, reprinting as they sell. There are no setup fees, so a 25-copy reprint costs what you’d expect it to.

Should my zine be saddle-stitched or perfect bound?

Page count decides. 8–48 pages: saddle-stitch — it’s the classic zine format and the cheapest to produce. From around 64 pages, perfect binding gives you a flat spine you can print on, which matters once a zine sits spine-out on a shelf. Between 48 and 64 either works; stitch if it’s ephemeral, bind if it’s a keeper.

What paper gives the classic zine look?

80–100gsm uncoated, mono, ideally on a recycled stock — ink sits matte on the surface and the page has a texture gloss can’t fake. For photo zines go the other way: 130–150gsm silk keeps blacks deep and skin tones honest. Mixing is allowed — uncoated text with a silk plate section reads as very deliberate.

Do you print risograph?

No — we’re a digital bookbindery, not a riso studio, and we’d rather say so than fake it. What we offer instead: mono and spot-colour-style layouts on uncoated recycled stocks that sit comfortably next to riso work at a fair, plus binding and trimming that home production can’t match. If your artwork is built as riso separations, we can print a composite version.

Can you print zines with adult content?

Yes — we print lawful adult material without fuss; see our NSFW printing page for how we handle it (short version: professionally, discreetly, no judgment).

How fast can you turn a run around for a fair?

Most zine runs leave the bindery 3–5 working days after you approve the proof — stitched work moves quickly. If a fair date is bearing down on you, tell us before you order and we’ll work the schedule backwards from your table setup.

How much does zine printing cost?

Depends on pages, size, paper and colour — the live table below shows typical specs, and the quote calculator prices your exact zine in thirty seconds. As a rule of thumb: mono A5 zines land at a unit cost that supports a £4–6 cover price at 50 copies.
