Booklet printing

Saddle-stitched booklets — brochures, programmes, catalogues, newsletters. Fast UK turnaround, gloss, matte or soft-touch covers.

Booklet printing
From 10 copies Saddle-stitched 8–80 pages A5 / A4 / square Gloss, matte or soft-touch Foiling & embossing

Saddle-stitched booklets are the right binding when you need 8–80 pages, a fast turnaround, and a finish that reads as professional rather than budget. The pages fold and staple along the spine, the spine sits clean and square, and the booklet costs a fraction of a perfect-bound equivalent.

We print booklets in-house at our Exeter facility — brochures, event programmes, catalogues, newsletters, educational handouts, conference materials. Short runs from 10 copies, large runs at scale, all on the same production line. Fast turnaround on tight deadlines.

Frequently asked

Quick answers, before you ask.

What’s the maximum page count for a saddle-stitched booklet?

About 80 pages as a practical upper limit. Beyond that, the staples struggle to hold the bulk and the booklet won’t close flat. For 80+ pages we’d recommend perfect or PUR binding — the spine becomes a glued spine instead of a stapled fold, supporting much higher page counts.

Why does the page count have to be a multiple of 4?

Because saddle-stitched booklets are made by folding sheets in half — each sheet contributes 4 pages (two on each side, two from the fold). 8, 12, 16, 20, 24… all valid. 13 or 17 isn’t. If your design is, say, 18 pages, you’d typically pad to 20 with blank end-pages or shrink to 16 by removing content.

How fast can you turn a booklet around?

Saddle-stitched booklets are the fastest of our binding methods. Standard turnaround is around 5–7 working days from file approval; tight deadlines down to 2–3 days are often achievable. Drop us a note before placing the order if you have a fixed event date.

Can I have a different paper for the cover and inside?

Yes — and it’s the most common way of running booklets. Typical spec is a heavier coated cover stock (170–250gsm) with lighter coated interior pages (115–150gsm). For the shortest runs or the simplest jobs, "self-cover" (same paper throughout) is also an option and slightly cheaper.

Can you do gatefold covers?

Yes. Gatefolds extend the cover with extra panels that fold inward — ideal for hero imagery, foldout maps or expanded title-page treatments. Available on most booklet sizes; the spec adds a small per-copy upcharge.

Do you print booklets for events?

Yes — orders of service, concert programmes, awards-night handouts, conference materials are all routine work for us. Tight deadlines welcome; foiled covers, premium paper and matching invitation suites are all in-house capabilities.

Can I see a sample?

Yes — order a free sample pack showing different binding styles, cover laminations and paper stocks. We can include saddle-stitched booklet examples on request.
