It was my first time printing books with Imprint, and I had a really good experience. The books came out just as I expected, and they were packed really carefully for delivery. Happy with the service and the quality!

I would give 10 stars if I could. This was my first foray into preparing a book myself for self publishing. In the past we have paid a designer a vast amount which wasn’t a cost effective option for this project. Riley at Imprint was endlessly helpful and patient and we have ended up with a very professional product at an incredibly reasonable price. What is even more outstanding is that I approved the final PDF on Wednesday and received the books on Friday!

I'm delighted with the whole printing experience with ImprintDigital. In a book with many colour photos and detailed technical illustrations, the printing quality is absolutely superb, with bright, true colours, sharp details and a high-quality glossy texture. The ordering process was simple and email responses were fast, friendly and professional..A delivery issue caused by another company was handled swiftly and elegantly. I highly recommend ImprintDigital.

From individual poems to a collection

The collection you have in mind.

Your first poetry collection

Bring individual poems together in a paperback, with a sequence, page size and cover that feel like one book.

A group anthology

Print a collection from a writing group, school or festival. Agree contributor names, poem order and a consistent layout.

Copies for readings and sales

Choose a practical run for launches, readings, bookshops or your own website, then compare quantities before ordering.

Selected and collected poems

Create a hardback edition of a longer body of work, with room for notes, introductions and a considered cover.

The detail

Preparing poetry for print

Line breaks and white space

  • Choose a trim that accommodates your longest lines.
  • Preserve deliberate indentation, stanza spacing and blank pages.
  • Check that the inside margin leaves every line readable at the spine.

Paper that suits the work

  • Compare the shade and feel of uncoated text papers.
  • Check show-through when a poem faces a mostly blank page.
  • Add colour pages if illustrations or artwork need them.

A collection or a pamphlet

  • A longer collection can suit a paperback with a square spine.
  • For a short pamphlet, compare a saddle-stitched booklet specification.
  • A hardback can suit selected poems or a longer collected edition.

The final reading

  • Proofread titles, punctuation, contributor credits and the contents page.
  • Include intentional blanks in the interior PDF and page count.
  • Export at the final page size, then check every line in the digital proof.
Questions

Poetry Book Printing FAQ

How much does it cost to print a poetry book?

The price depends on your page count, size, paper, binding, colour and quantity. Use the calculator above for your collection and compare the same specification at different run sizes. Delivery and optional proofs are shown separately.

How many poetry books can I print?

Paperbacks start at 10 copies and hardbacks at 25. Choose a run for your launch, writing group or readers, then compare the next practical quantity in the calculator.

What size should a poetry collection be?

B-format and A5 are useful starting points. Check your longest lines at the chosen type size before deciding: a narrower page can introduce unwanted line breaks. Our book size guide helps you compare trims.

How do I preserve line breaks and stanza spacing?

Set the final trim and margins before typesetting. Keep intentional line breaks, indentation and blank pages in your interior PDF, with fonts embedded. Review the proof at the printed size, especially long lines and poems that continue onto another page.

Can you print a short poetry pamphlet or chapbook?

A short poetry pamphlet may suit saddle stitching rather than a square spine. The choice depends on page count and paper. Compare booklet printing or zine printing, and ask us to check the specification if you are unsure.

Can I print a poetry anthology with several contributors?

Yes. Bring the poems into one final interior PDF with consistent page size, credits and contents. Check each contributor name and the agreed sequence before approving the proof. This page prices the printing and binding of your prepared collection.

Can my collection have illustrations or a hardback edition?

Yes. Add mono or colour pages for illustrations, or switch to hardback for a collected edition. Compare the same interior in both formats and check the paper against your artwork. Hardbacks start at 25 copies.

Can I see a proof and order more poetry books later?

A digital proof is included and a printed proof is optional. Keep your approved files and specification for a later reprint, and tell us about any changes when requesting a new quote. See proofs and author copies for the proof options.
