"Sarah was very helpful throughout the whole process with no pressure at all."
Jack Roberts · First-time author · Aug 2025Every binding below is made in our Exeter bindery by the people who printed the pages, so one team answers for the whole book.
Our hardback. The pages are sewn, then cased into rigid boards covered in printed paper or cloth, with foil blocking, embossing or spot UV if you want them. The binding to choose when a book has to last.
From 25 copies · In-house
Our Universe sewing machine sews the pages through the fold at short-run quantities: paperbacks from 10 copies, hardbacks from 25. A durable choice for easier opening and repeated use.
Strongest binding
A stronger, more flexible glue than standard perfect binding. We use it for coated paper, heavy-use books and anything that has to open more easily again and again without cracking.
Stronger glue
The standard paperback: pages glued into a laminated cover. The economical choice for novels, trade paperbacks, journals and brochures, printed on the same presses as everything else here.
From 10 copies
Foil blocking, embossing, spot UV and lamination, all done in this building. Nothing waits on a third party, and one person answers for the finish.
All in-house
Any size up to 320 by 320 mm, so large-format photography and coffee-table books are no trouble. The spine width calculator and cover templates are free on our tools page.
