Real bookshop-quality printing in short runs — from as few as 10 copies — with free file checking, ISBN barcoding and reprints whenever you need them.
Print-on-demand gives you a book — but it rarely gives you a good book. Thin covers, murky interiors, and margins so tight that wholesalers won’t touch it. We print short runs on the same kit used for trade publishers: proper binding, retail-grade paper, covers that look deliberate on a shelf.
Whether you’re printing 15 copies of a debut novel to sell at events, or 200 copies of a memoir to distribute through the trade, we handle the whole thing — free file check to catch problems before they reach print, ISBN barcoding on the cover, a free ONIX metadata export so you can list with distributors, and files kept ready the moment you need a reprint. If you’re new to publishing, we’ll guide you through it; if you know exactly what you want, we’ll just get on with it.
B-format or Royal paperbacks and hardbacks, PUR or thread-sewn, in the trim sizes readers expect to find on a fiction shelf. Short runs from 10 copies, reprints on demand as sales build.
Personal histories, family memoirs, travel writing and essay collections — printed to a finish that does justice to the story inside. Paperback or case-bound hardback.
Pamphlets and full collections in small quantities, saddle-stitched or perfect-bound. Clean uncoated stocks that read well and feel right in the hand.
Specialist subjects, illustrated titles and niche non-fiction where the audience is small but serious. Mono, colour or mixed within one book at no extra cost.
Build the spec, see the price live. No account required, no email gate — just an instant figure based on what you actually want.
Paperbacks from around 10 copies, hardbacks from around 25. Below those quantities the per-copy cost is high relative to the quality you get, so if you only need two or three author copies we’d suggest ordering a small run rather than a single copy. Get a quote — the price calculator will show you how the cost per copy changes as the quantity rises.
Every job gets a free file check before anything goes to print. We look for common problems — wrong trim size, missing bleed, low-resolution images, RGB colour in a print file — and tell you exactly what needs fixing. We’re used to working with first-time authors and we’ll explain anything that’s unclear in plain English. See our pricing page for what’s included as standard.
Yes — we barcode the cover from your ISBN so the book scans correctly at a till, and we offer a free ONIX metadata export that lets distributors and retailers (including Nielsen) list your title in their systems. You’ll need your own ISBN (available from Nielsen in the UK) and a distribution arrangement, but the print side is fully trade-ready from us.
We keep your print-ready files so reprints are straightforward. Just tell us the quantity, confirm nothing has changed, and we’ll turn it around. There’s no pressure to forecast a big first run — print what you need now, reprint as demand comes in.
Order a free sample pack and we’ll send you examples of different binding styles, paper stocks and cover finishes. It’s the best way to choose between, say, a PUR paperback on uncoated stock and a case-bound hardback on cream. You can also visit us in Exeter if you’d like to see production in person.
