A yearbook is one of those books that earns its keep. Pulled off the shelf at reunions twenty years from now. Passed around at the leavers’ ball next month. The binding has to last; the printing has to do the photographs justice; and we have to get it to you before term ends.

Imprint Digital has been printing leavers books and yearbooks for UK schools, sixth forms and universities since the late 1990s. Every project runs through our Exeter facility from start to finish — short-run digital printing, thread-sewn binding, foil blocking, hardback case binding — all under one roof, with one team, on one production schedule that we can hold to.

How much does yearbook printing cost?

Frequently asked

Quick answers, before you ask.

How many copies can I order?

From 10 copies upwards, with no maximum. Most school yearbook runs land between 50 and 250 copies; sixth-form leavers books are often 75–150. Pricing scales meaningfully at 25, 50 and 100 copies, so it’s worth running the quote at a couple of quantities to find your sweet spot.

How long does a yearbook take to print?

Standard turnaround is 7–10 working days for paperback and 10–15 working days for hardback, from approval of your proof. We can prioritise tight deadlines on request — if you have a fixed end-of-term cutoff, drop us a note before placing the order and we’ll confirm what’s achievable.

Can I mix paper stocks in one book?

Yes, and at no extra cost. A common pattern is uncoated 80–100gsm for the text-heavy sections (signature pages, messages, the introduction) and coated 115–150gsm silk for the photo plates. We can also bind in different colours, paper weights or even special inserts at specified page positions.

What file format should I send?

Press-ready PDF is easiest. We can also accept Microsoft Word files and convert them to PDF at no charge. For the cleanest result your file should include 3mm bleed on all edges, all images at 300 DPI, and CMYK colour throughout. Page dimensions should match the trim size you’ve ordered. Free file check on every job — we’ll flag any issues before press.

What’s the difference between a yearbook and a leavers book?

A yearbook documents the entire school’s academic year — class photos, events, sports, trips across all year groups. A leavers book focuses on the graduating year specifically, with student profiles, teacher messages, group photos and signature pages. Many schools combine elements of both. Production-wise the spec choices are identical.

Can you help with the design?

We don’t design yearbooks ourselves but we work regularly with designers who do, and we’re happy to introduce you. Most schools also work with a parent volunteer or a sixth-form student who’s done the layout in InDesign or Canva — both work fine for our printing process. If you’d like recommendations, drop us a note.

Do you offer sample yearbooks I can see before ordering?

Yes — we send out free sample packs showing different binding styles, paper stocks and finishes, including bound dummy yearbooks where stock allows. Useful for the parent committee or design team to handle before signing off the spec.
