Educational printing is anything a learner or teacher actually uses, and most of it gets used hard. A workbook opened flat on a desk and written in, a revision guide crammed into a bag, a training manual worked cover to cover, a prospectus handed out on an open day. The binding has to hold, the pages have to lie flat, and the spec has to stay identical across every title in a series.

We print workbooks, textbooks, revision guides and other bound publications for educational publishers, schools, colleges and training providers. Choose uncoated writing paper from the calculator and a binding suited to the page count and use. Thread sewing helps the book open more easily, but does not make it completely lay-flat. Paperbacks start at 10 copies and hardbacks at 25.

What "educational printing" actually covers

It's a broad term, workbooks, textbooks, revision and exam guides, training manuals, prospectuses, yearbooks, planners and course packs all sit under it. What they share is that they're used hard and need to be bound to last. We focus on that bound, book-form end. We don't sell commodity stationery (loose copier paper, pens, glue sticks) we make the books and booklets, and we bind them to a standard a stationery supplier can't.

The right binding for how it's used

Choose the binding around how the workbook or textbook will be used:

  • Thread-sewn, for workbooks and activity books a student writes in, and anything used daily for a year. The stitched sections help the book open more easily; it is not completely lay-flat.
  • PUR perfect binding: a strong, economical spine for textbooks, thick revision guides and prospectuses.
  • Saddle-stitch: neat and cost-effective for thin workbooks, exam booklets and slim prospectuses (up to ~64 pages).
  • Case-bound hardback, for yearbooks, leavers' books and presentation editions that need to last for decades.

Paper that takes a pen

Workbooks need an uncoated stock that takes pen, pencil and highlighter without smudging or showing through. Textbooks and revision guides with photographs or diagrams take a light coated or silk stock for sharper colour. We hold a wide range on-site, including FSC-certified and recycled options, and will recommend the right weight for the page count so the book feels right and doesn't bulk.

Publisher or school, both welcome

If you're an educational publisher selling a list, we print and reprint your workbooks, textbooks and revision titles to demand, with your ISBN barcode on the cover. ONIX metadata tools are coming soon and are not yet available to customers. What counts as "educational printing"?

Broadly, any printed material used in teaching or learning, workbooks, textbooks, revision and exam guides, training and CPD manuals, prospectuses, course packs, yearbooks, pupil planners and teacher organisers. We print the bound versions of all of these. We don't supply commodity stationery (loose copier paper, pens, jotters by the pallet), we're a book printer and bookbinder, so we make the books and booklets that need to be properly bound and last.

What's the minimum order, and can you do short runs?

Paperbacks start at 10 copies and hardbacks at 25, which suits pilot editions, niche subjects and teacher handbooks. Most established titles sit in the 100 to 500 short-to-medium range where cost per copy is keenest, and we reprint on demand as stock runs down, so you never have to over-order. What binding is best for a workbook students write in?

Choose the binding around the page count and how the workbook will be used. Thread sewing helps opening and repeated use, but is not completely lay-flat. Saddle-stitch can suit thinner workbooks. If the pages must sit flat without being held, discuss wire-O or another suitable format with us before ordering. Compare binding methods.

Can you produce hardback yearbooks and leavers' books?

Yes, case-bound hardback yearbooks are a speciality, with thread-sewn bookblocks, printed-paper or cloth cases, foil blocking and optional dust jackets. See our dedicated yearbook printing page for the full options.

Can you print training manuals and course packs?

Yes, training manuals, CPD workbooks and course handbooks are a core part of what we print. Short runs suit a single cohort, binding that opens more easily makes them usable on a desk, and we hold your files so each new intake reprints quickly without re-setup. What paper do you use, and is it FSC-certified?

Uncoated write-on stock is standard for workbooks; light coated or silk stocks suit illustrated textbooks and revision guides. We hold FSC-certified and recycled options and will recommend the right weight for the page count. Tell us the title and we'll advise on stock and bulk.

Can you match a series and reprint each year?

Yes, give us a sample copy or the original spec and we'll lock in trim size, paper, binding and cover so every title in a series sits consistently together. Can you print published titles with an ISBN and supply ONIX?

We apply a barcode to your cover using the ISBN you supply. ONIX metadata tools are coming soon and are not yet available to customers. You will need to arrange your title listing and distribution with your chosen providers.
