I would give 10 stars if I could. This was my first foray into preparing a book myself for self publishing. In the past we have paid a designer a vast amount which wasn’t a cost effective option for this project. Riley at Imprint was endlessly helpful and patient and we have ended up with a very professional product at an incredibly reasonable price. What is even more outstanding is that I approved the final PDF on Wednesday and received the books on Friday!

I'm delighted with the whole printing experience with ImprintDigital. In a book with many colour photos and detailed technical illustrations, the printing quality is absolutely superb, with bright, true colours, sharp details and a high-quality glossy texture. The ordering process was simple and email responses were fast, friendly and professional..A delivery issue caused by another company was handled swiftly and elegantly. I highly recommend ImprintDigital.

Delivery, priced at checkout

Prices on this page are for the books. UK mainland tracked-courier delivery is calculated at checkout from your run's carton count, so it falls per copy as the run grows.

Premium finishes

What premium finishes add to the price

The tables above use a standard printed paper case, gloss lamination and no extras. The figures below are the typical premium each upgrade adds to the base per-copy price; the calculator prices most of them exactly, and the rest are confirmed at order time.

Foil blocking (spine or cover)
Adds ~8 to 15% per copy. Custom dies are a flat fee on runs of 50+. Gold, silver, copper, white and coloured foils.
Printed dust jacket
Adds ~12 to 20% per copy on hardback. Full-colour print plus gloss or matt lamination.
Cloth Wibalin or buckram cover
Adds ~15 to 25% per copy against a printed paper case. Wibalin comes in 30+ colours, and foil blocks directly onto the cloth.
Leather or vegan-leather cover
Adds ~30 to 60% per copy. Reserved for premium gift editions and bespoke commissions; priced on request.
Ribbon marker
Adds ~£0.20 to £0.50 per copy. Single or double ribbon, 15+ colours stocked.
Head and tail bands
Adds ~£0.15 to £0.40 per copy. Solid, two-tone or striped, matched or contrasting.
Embossing or debossing
Adds ~5 to 12% per copy plus a one-off die fee on runs of 50+. Used alone or with foil.
Colour plate section in a mono book
Priced per plate in the calculator: a bound-in section on 115gsm coated, 2 to 96 plates in twos.
Turnaround
Standard is 5 to 7 working days for paperback and 3 to 4 weeks for hardback, counted from proof approval.

Questions

Book printing price questions

Do these book printing prices include UK delivery?

No. The per-copy prices on this page are for the books themselves. UK mainland tracked-courier delivery is calculated at checkout from the number of cartons your run fills, so it falls per copy as the run grows, and the price card above shows it for the book you have configured. Highlands and Islands surcharges and international shipping are quoted separately at order time.

Are these prices VAT inclusive?

All prices on this page exclude VAT. Printed books are zero-rated for UK VAT, so most orders carry none; ancillary items, and books designed to be written in such as notebooks and diaries, are standard-rated. Your quote itemises it either way.

How accurate are these book printing prices?

They are real numbers from our live calculator, computed when this page loaded. They are the same figures you would see configuring the equivalent specification above, and they update automatically when our pricing changes. Your order quote will match them for the same specification.

Why do per-copy prices fall so sharply with quantity?

Setup costs (file checks, calibration, binding line setup) are fixed, and they spread across more copies as the quantity rises. There is no setup fee on top, so the whole of the fall you can see in every table on this page is that spreading, plus paper and press time buying better at volume.

What do premium finishes add to the price?

Roughly: foil blocking 8 to 15% per copy, a printed dust jacket 12 to 20%, cloth in place of a printed paper case 15 to 25%, embossing or debossing 5 to 12%. Ribbons and head and tail bands are pennies per copy. The list further down this page has the detail, and the calculator above prices most of them exactly.

How do your book printing prices compare to other UK printers?

Compare quotes for the same size, page count, paper, colour, binding, quantity and finish. Include proofs, delivery and any applicable VAT in the total. Our calculator shows the price for your chosen specification, with paperbacks from 10 copies and hardbacks from 25. The table on this page lists useful questions to ask each printer.

Do you offer trade pricing for publishers and repeat customers?

Yes. Publishers, print management companies and design studios working with us regularly are invoiced under trade terms, with rolling pricing reviewed quarterly. Tell us your typical run sizes and we can put trade pricing in place.

How long are these prices valid for?

They are computed live and change when our pricing changes. A quote saved through the calculator is valid for 30 days from the date issued, and a quote confirmed at order time is locked at that price regardless of later rate changes.

Can I get an exact price for my specific book?

Yes, above. The calculator on this page takes your exact size, page count, paper, binding, colour mix, quantity and finishing, and prices it live. For anything unusual, the full quote calculator saves and emails a quote without a sign-up.
