01Brief

An education publisher sent eleven titles as one order: ten A4 paperbacks in full colour, 30 to 46 pages each, and one A5 text guide of 74 pages; up to 1,000 copies of a title, 3,650 books in all.

03Production challenge

Eleven titles is eleven sets of files, eleven print runs and eleven binding set-ups, on two trims and two papers, released as one order.

04Production route

All eleven titles were released to the print queue on the same Monday. Text was printed on our own presses, the A4 titles in full colour, and the covers too; the books were perfect bound and trimmed in the same works. Binding ran on the Thursday and Friday, and every title left on the Friday.

05Materials

100gsm Opaque for the ten A4 titles and 80gsm Opaque for the A5. 80gsm Opaque is one of the text stocks we hold at the works and at our paper merchant.

06Binding construction

Glued (perfect bound): the text block glued into the cover at the spine, then trimmed flush on three sides.

07Finishing

Covers printed on our own presses, gloss laminated and bound on in the same building.

08Delivery

All eleven titles despatched on Friday 13 March 2026: 3,777 copies, as counted on our despatch records.

09Result

Released on Monday, bound on Thursday and Friday, despatched on Friday.

For the title with the largest run, 1,000 copies, this was its fourth printing with us in about seven months: 500 copies in August 2025, 1,000 in October, 1,100 in November and 1,000 in March 2026.

10What we would do again

Release a multi-title order as one job, so every title moves through the presses and the bindery together and leaves on the same day.
